Vista will degrade your gaming speed somewhat. You might want to read some computer forums on this subject first before you buy Vista to game with. Most knowledgeable gamers agree that XP is still the operating system to go with for gaming for right now. Vista is just not worth the speed hit. Also Creative newest and best sound card the X-Fi, is extremely degraded in Vista and it is the best gaming sound card going right now. Their best drivers for this sound card used in Vista are Beta drivers. Go to Creatives web site forums and there are a bunch of angry people on there because Creative clams that the sound card is compatible with Vista and it is not as there are serious conflicts.
Also you have a lot of big numbers up there but big numbers do necessarily guarantee a great gaming machine. I would be concerned about the motherboard and a solid BIOS that over clocks to your liking without the motherboard falling through the cracks if it gets to hot from overclocking. As a gamer I would want a video card that runs Microsoft’s newest DirectX 10, if you do use Vista. You did not say if your gaming card could do this or not. Note: DirectX 10 will not run in XP so gamers maybe forced to upgrade to Vista even if they do not want to. Also the newest Halo game will not run in XP. Video shared memory is not good for gaming. Last, what good is a dial up modem? That’s my thoughts on your question.
