slot machine technician jobs
Can my dads job really do this?

Ok, so today me and my dad were outside packing the car up for a camping trip, and a KNDO suv came by and was asking him about daytime burglaries, and asked if they could record him talking about it, and he said that he can’t be recorded because his job prohibits it. So later on i asked him about it and he said when he got the job he had to sign a paper saying he wouldn’t answer any questions on tv, radio, internet, etc. (affiliated with his job or not.) He’s a slot machine technician, at an Indian owned casino. in Toppenish, Washington. This violates his right to free speech, BUT the company is NOT funded by the government, soo, my question is can his employers really prohibit it? Especially if it has absolutely nothing to do with the job?

Yes, a third, or company can make a legal binding contract that forbids the employee to speak to the radio, news, or be recorded, (just as Lawyers, psychologists and priests are), nonetheless, if the person under the contract (per say your father) has found out information which is illegal, or has discovered someone is about to commit a crime/or/in danger to himself, he is allowed to speak to any of these stations, making the contract void.

Though, the contract might say “if these terms are broken, we will be able to sue, fire or do as we please as a punishment” (example), if you take it to court and give a liable reason of why the person had to brake the contract, it is most likely nothing will come upon the person.
