ram slots macbook pro
Is it simply adding RAM too?

Ok I have a 15inch macbook pro and wine 512MbRam but may contain up to 2 GB of RAM. So I 2 GB of RAM (2GBx1) and it works Finally, everything is going better than ever. However, I'm just reading the guide that is supposed to only have 1 GB of RAM per slot. Oops! But memory is recognized by all and my Mac "Is this a problem? Also, I am tempted to push the envelope and add the 512 old in the open slot. Bad idea? What can happen?

There is no such thing as too much. Unrecognized surplus. 512 MB should not be added, it will not fu (k your computer, but all memory problems would not have recognized when it is attached.
