One PCI slot (short for Peripheral Component Interconnect) is a computer bus for connecting peripherals to a computer. These devices can either adopt the form of an integrated circuit installed on the motherboard, called it a flat device in the specification or a PCI expansion card that fits into a slot. A variety of sizes are available PCI slots to accommodate new devices and the future. Sizes common are PCIe x1, PCIe x4, x8 PCI, PCI and mini-PCI x16.
Rackmount Industrial Computers can be configured to use the PCI and PCIe slots in several ways.
